Abstract
Use of the term "human capital" has a long historical tradition. However, as an independent branch of the economy, human capital theory arose only at the turn of 50-ies of the last century. With globalization, human capital is becoming increasingly important. Fundamental to social development in the twenty-first century is the development of human capital.
