Abstract
The article studies the development of systems of the higher education of the national republics of Central Volga Area at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries. It considers the key problems of systems of the higher education at this stage, first of all processes of change of motivation of the main consumers, quantitative changes of education systems and processes of spontaneous commercialization.
