Abstract
This article discusses methods of dating elements of traditional culture and folklore studies in ethnology. There is common methods for studying diachronic materials in representatives of different human sciences, despite the significant differences in the sources. The thesis about the possibility of achieving in ethnology and folklore, not only relative, but absolute dates provided using the whole complex of methods and compliance procedures of scientific research.
