Abstract
An article tells us about emergence and development of the Russian-Californian trade in the first third of the XIX century. The first trade contacts between Russians and the Californian Spaniards arose in 1806 after visit of California of the Russian vessel "Juno" under the leadership of N. P. Rezanov. Up to 1821 the Russian-Californian trade had illegal character. Barter character of trade relations was the second important feature – Russians exchanged industrial products for food products for which the Russian America felt a severe need.
