Abstract
The article deals with the spiritual atmosphere prevailing in France during the Empire, analyzes attitude toward of the French Revolution the French writer and politician of the Restoration Francois Rene de Chateaubriand, emphasis is placed on examining the role of religion for the French people based treatise «The Genius of Christianity».
